YPSILANTI, Mich. — University of Louisville diver Rayce Winn punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships after the finals on day two of the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships Tuesday evening at Eastern Michigan University’s Michael H. Jones Natatorium.
Scoring a 678.55 and placing eighth, Winn claimed a berth on the Cardinals’ NCAA squad on the 1-meter springboard. The Arlington, Va. native moved from 14th in prelims into eighth in the finals.
Fellow Cardinal Mack Molloy finished 23rd with a score of 288.00 just one spot ahead of teammate Colin Kruer’s 286.80. Ray Preas placed 28th with a 280.70.
On the women’s side in the 3-meter springboard, Sammantha Helmboldt advanced to the finals where she placed 17th with a score of 532.10. Teammate Maud Van Kampen finished 20th with a 265.10 and Audree Brazeau-Howes was 22nd, scoring a 260.85. Samantha Keith was 35th, posting a mark of 229.25.
Action continues Wednesday, Mar. 11, with women’s 3-meter and men’s platform prelims at 10:45 a.m. ET, followed by finals competition at 1:15 p.m. ET.
