The 12th ranked Louisville basketball team handled business at home in a blowout victory over the Tribe from William & Mary by a final score of 91 to 58. The Cards were led in scoring by freshman V.J. King with 17 points, but the impressive part was how he did it. King went 7-11 from the field and 3-3 from 3-point range giving a performance we all expected to see out of the McDonald’s All-American at some point, but it’s fantastic to see it this early. Deng Adel had a good game as well, he finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. The backcourt duo of Quentin Snider and Donovan Mitchell added 13 and 9 points respectively. Jaylen Johnson was one rebound away from a double-double, he finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Ray Spalding also had a nice night, he finished with 10 points on 5-6 shooting.
Louisville was only favored by 17.5 points at home tonight, and although it wasn’t a big name program the Cards were still very impressive by winning tonight by almost double the spread. As a team the Cards shot 45.8% from the field and 35.7% from 3. Once again, the assist number sticks out the most. The Cards finished the game with 21 assists on 33 made baskets.
Up next Louisville plays Long Beach State in the Battle for Atlantis Campus Game (at Louisville) on Thursday at 4pm.
