Cardinal cornerback Alphonso Carter announced via Twitter that he was released from the team after meeting with Coach Bobby Petrino and will be transferring to another school to continue his eligibility. Carter was suspended indefinitely last fall after he was pulled over by LMPD and there was a loaded gun found in the car. Although he was facing felony gun possession, he was eventually charged with misdemeanor gun charges to which he plead guilty to.
Carter, 6’3 corner who originally transferred from Tennessee to Louisville has already earned his Bachelor’s degree and will be eligible to play immediately in the fall of 2017. Carter is the second cornerback to transfer in the past few weeks as Shaq Wiggins also announced he will be leaving UofL. We here at CSZ wish Alphonso good luck wherever he winds up playing next season.
