Johnson, a 6’2 208 lbs 3 star QB, is ranked the number 14 pro style QB in the nation per 247 Sports. It’s early in his recruitment as his only offers at this point are UofL and Memphis.
Johnson is not a Lamar type of dual threat QB. He can run and has some speed, but his game is more reminiscent of former UofL great Teddy Bridgewater.
Johnson has a big arm, but with great accuracy. He can make beautiful high spiraling throws deep down the field or hit 15 yard out cuts and quick slants. He has great pocket presence, but can also escape the pocket and make throws on the run. His throws on the run are highly accurate.
Much like Teddy, Jaden can read the entire field and appears to be able to manipulate coverage with his eyes. In his highlights, twice I saw him look to one side of the field and come back to the other side where a WR was wide open.
This is a great pick up for UofL and for Bobby Petrino. Many fans often lament the fact they never saw Teddy Bridgewater in a Petrino offense. They may get to see something like it with Jaden Johnson in a few years.
