One of the most winningest coaches of all time, Geno Auriemma, says he would hire Rick Pitino despite his firing from Louisville.
Auriemma was asked if he would hire Rick Pitino on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast.
“If I had a job opening? Yes,” Auriemma said. “Well, I mean, everybody’s got baggage. You know, what are you going to do? You know, he did his time. He’s serving his sentence. He lost a great, great job. And you know what? So what. That’s a life sentence? I don’t know, I don’t think so.”
Auriemma also appeared on ESPN’s First Take where he defended his response stating, “who is better?? Nobody.” To which Stephen A. Smith agreed.
