The University of Louisville men’s basketball team improved to 3-0 on Tuesday night with a 84-42 win over Southern Illinois University. The Cards fought through a sluggish start on the offensive end to eventually double up their opponent on the scoreboard. Louisville shot just 1-12 from 3 in the first half, but they recovered to shoot 7-14 in the second half. Coach Padgett reiterated the point that his guys were getting good looks in the first half, but the shots just weren’t falling. The Cards finished the game shooting 44.9% overall and an impressive 93% from the free throw line.

Louisville was led in scoring by freshman Jordan Nwora. Nwora impressed with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Deng Adel had another good game with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Freshman Lance Thomas hit 2 if his 3 shots and walk-on Jacob Redding came in and hit two 3-pointers, which caused the Louisville bench to explode.

Louisville returns to action at the KFC Yum! Center this Friday at 7:00 PM to take on Saint Francis. The Women’s Basketball team also plays Friday at 1:00 PM against Murray State at the KFC Yum! Center.
