Welcome back to our weekly look into the state of Cardinal Athletics! Let’s not waste any time and jump right into it!
Swimming
Our very own men’s and women’s swimming teams combined to top the standings at the USA Winter Nationals, scoring a combined 755.5 points. Additionally, women’s swimmer Mallory Comerford won the Women’s High Point award. Congrats go out to them on a successful competition. Additionally at the Miami Diving Invitational, the teams managed to have 6 NCAA zone cut scores. Congrats go out to our swimming and diving team on a successful week!
This Week: IDLE
Track and Field
Our Track and Field team finished the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener with 4 wins and 11 top 3 finishes. Winners included: Javen Reeves and Jerin Allen tying their personal best (and tying for first place) with a 7’21/2” in the high jump, Oliver Newport winning the long jump with a mark of 24’1”, and Emmonnie Henderson winning the weight throw with a mark of 62’5”. Congrats on a great opener Cards!

Men’s Soccer
Unfortunately, our men’s soccer team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament via penalty kicks vs Akron, which concludes their season. I thank the men’s soccer team for all their hard work this season. You made us all proud!
Women’s Volleyball
Our women’s volleyball team unfortunately befell the same fate, losing their opening game against Northern Iowa 0-3. Thanks for bringing us an ACC title, we are also so proud of you all!
