The Cards needed something positive to happen after back to back close losses. Luckily, the Cards faced off against Siena Wednesday night and came away with a 86-60 victory. The game was close for the entire first half with Siena only leading for three and a half minutes, but only trailing by 3 at the half. The Cards pulled away in the 2nd half thanks to a couple scoring runs.
The star of the night for Louisville was Anas Mahmoud. He finished the night with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 9 blocks, 1 block away from a triple double. Coach Padgett said he wasn’t aware Mahmoud only needed one more block until he had taken Mahmoud out of the game for the final time. Quentin Snider got his offense going with 16 points and Ray Spalding chipped in a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
This was Louisville’s first game of the Gotham Classic. They will also play Memphis, Albany and Bryant as part of the tournament. However, Louisville will take a break from the tournament to host Indiana this Saturday at 2:00 PM.
