Louisville vs Mississippi State: Postgame Recap

The Louisville Cardinals fell to Mississippi State 31-27 today. Despite leading 21-17 at halftime, Louisville was unable to put Miss St away and Lamar Jackson’s Hail Mary heave fell incomplete to end the Cards’ season.

Louisville had numerous opportunities to the put the game out of reach, but turnovers and only scoring on 2 field goals in the 2nd half weren’t enough for the Cardinals to win.

In what could have been his last game as a Cardinal, Lamar didn’t have his normal day. He threw a career-high 4 interceptions, was 13-31 passing for 171 yards and 2 touchdowns and amassed 158 yards on 24 carries with 1 touchdown on the ground. Though not his best day and the scouts may point to this game instead of the countless others he was spectacular in, we all know how Lamar will go down in history if this was his last time as a Cardinal, for that, we are all eternally grateful.

Jaylen Smith led the Cards in receiving today with 7 receptions for 107 yards and 1 touchdown.

Thank you to all the seniors for your time as a Cardinal. Thank you to the guys who decide to leave early and good luck in all your future endeavors. Card fans will always support our own.

Go Cards!
