Louisville travels to Virginia to take on the 2nd ranked Cavaliers in a 7pm game tonight on ESPN2.
Virginia is playing as well as, if not better than, any team in the country. The Cavaliers are undefeated in ACC play and Louisville is the closest team to them, so needless to say that tonight’s game is huge for the ACC race.
Virginia enters this game with a 20-1 (9-0 ACC) record. They’ve earned that record by doing what they do best, holding teams to absurdly low point totals. So far this season, Virginia is only allowing 52.1 points per game (1st in the nation). They’re coming off their first victory at Duke since 1995. Duke only scored 63 points. The Cavaliers are led by sharp-shooting Sophomore, Kyle Guy. Guy averages 15.2 points per game and shoots 41% from 3-point range.
Louisville hasn’t scored 60 points against Virginia in their 6 meetings since joining the ACC. I’m excited to see how David Padgett attacks the packline defense because we all grew tired of watching Pitino try to beat it the same way every year. There were two games I thought Padgett might get some first time luck in this year, Kentucky (obviously not the case) and Virginia. If Louisville can finally surpass that 60 point mark tonight, the Cards could steal a massive win in Virginia.
