
This weekend was a busy weekend for the Cardinals in Orlando, Florida competing in the D9 Citrus Classic. Here is how they fared over the weekend.
Friday:
Game 1 vs Lehigh:
The offense exploded on the scene for the Cardinals as they won 14-1. Sophomore Caitlin Ferguson went 3-3 with 3 RBIs. Megan Hensley started for the Cards and pitched a solid three innings. Freshman Danielle Watson came in for relief of Hensley and pitched the remaining of the game to pick up the win. This was her 5th win on the season.

Game 2: vs #24 South Carolina
South Carolina jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back. The Cards offense couldn’t match the firepower of the South Carolina. Danielle Watson started this game going 5 1/3 innings with with giving up 5 runs and only striking out three. The Cards were lead by Junior Sidney Melton & Sophomore Caitlin Ferguson who both went for 2-3 on the day.

Saturday:
Game #1: @Morgan State
The Cards won 12-4 in 5 innings. Senior Jamie Soles helped lead the cards to victory going 3-4 with 3 runs & 2 RBIs. Danielle Watson pitched another solid performance not giving up a run or hit while striking out six batters. The offense was clicking on all cylinders.

Game #2 vs South Alabama
The Cards were in a gridlock battle with South Alabama that was back and forth. Sophomore Celene Funke allowed Freshman Maddy Newman to score on a fielders choice in the bottom of the 8th with two outs. Danielle Watson picked up another win on the day for her 7th win of the season. Senior Nicole Pufahl helped lead the team to victory going 2-2 with the sacrifice bunt to put Maddy into scoring position to score the game’s winning run.

Sunday:
Game #1: vs Harvard
The Cards jumped out to the early 1-0 lead before Harvard scored 3 in the top of the 3rd. The Cards were down 3-2 going to 7th when all the craziness started. The bottom of 7th started with Junior Megan Hensley getting hit by a pitch. Freshman Kyra Synder’s sacrifice bunt pushed the runner to second. An error allowed the runner to go to third and junior Blaire Bass drew a walk to load the bases and tie the score. The Cards walked off on a walk by Jamie Soles to win 4-3.
Cards: 4 Harvard: 3
The Cards are 10-4 on the season and will have the home opener Thursday @6p against UAB.
