
This Weekend was a busy weekend for the Louisville Softball team. They hosted their annual Black & Red Classic. They hosted Maryland, UAB, Miami Ohio, & Eastern Illinois. These team continued this hot streak sweeping all their competition. Here is an individual break down of each of the games from this past weekend.
Friday:
Game #1: vs Maryland: The Cards came into winners of 4 straight. Senior Nicole Pufahl went 2-3 with an RBI. She continued her rampage of hitting. Freshman Danielle Watson picked up her 10th win in pitching a complete game striking out a career high eight. Maryland couldn’t find an answer to Watson’s pitching.

Game #2: vs UAB: Today was the day of the seniors. Senior Jamie Soles led the Cards to victory. The Cards had six different players scored in this victory. Junior Megan Hensley picked up her 3rd win of the season. She stuck out 6 batters and didn’t issue a in 6 innings of work. The Cards got a little sloppy in the 6th inning before pulling away.

Saturday:
vs Miami Ohio: The Cards and Redhawks couldn’t find their offense. Sophomore Celene Funke & Junior Sidney Melton helped lead the Cards to the victory. Danielle Watson came in relief for freshman pitcher Kyra Snyder and pitched great picking up her 11th win of the season. She continued her hot streak with pitching three innings with only giving up one hit. Junior Megan Hensley picked up her 1st save of the season. This was the Cards 7th straight victory.

Sunday:
vs Eastern Illinois: This was a huge game for the Cards winner of 7 straight and the program was on the record books for 699 career wins under Coach Sandy Pearsall. Junior Madison Cousineau, led the team going going 1-3 collecting 2RBIs. The Cards put up five runs in the first on 2 hits, four walks, and an error this caused them to never look back on EIU. Junior Megan Hensley picked up the win, allowing three hits and striking out three in five innings. Coach Pearsall said after the game “We tell them that everything we do on the field is for the name across their jersey – the wins belong to Louisville softball. I am honored to have been coaching at Louisville for the last 19 years.”
