Bobby Petrino got some good recruiting news Saturday night when 3 star FL DT Denzel Daxon committed to UofL Football.

The 6’1 315 lbs Daxon was previously committed to Miami (FL). He plays high school football at Carol City in Miami, FL. Daxon chose UofL over Miami, Florida, Georgia, UK, and others. LD Scott was his lead recruiter per 247sports.com.

In watching Daxon’s highlights, he is a unique blend of power and quickness. He is nearly impossible to block one on one because he will either push the OL straight back into the backfield or use his quick feet to beat the OL to a spot and get free run at the QB or RB.

Daxon is definitely what one would call an interior pass rusher. He loves to get to the QB and sack him.

His strength and agility allow him to do this often. He explodes off the ball and leaves OL wondering what happened as he gets in the backfield and disrupts the play.

When Daxon is blocked, he shows excellent ability to shed the block and still make a play. Sometimes he can still make a play with a blocker still engaged feebly trying to stop him.

There’s no wonder why quite a few of the big boy programs wanted Daxon including his hometown school Miami. For UofL to get a commitment from a player of this caliber, especially one that had been committed to his hometown school, is huge. Daxon is very talented. He’s big and powerful, yet quick and agile. He can be a run stopping or pass rushing DT. Denzel Daxon definitely is a great addition to this class for Bobby Petrino and Brian Van Gorder.
