TWICA: September 17th

Welcome back everyone, to This Week in Cardinal Athletics! Sorry for no TWICA last week, had some personal issues come up that prevented me from getting it out, but we are back in full force this week. But that’s enough of the talking, let’s get into it!

Women’s Golf

At the Minnesota Invitational, the Cardinals finished 3rd out of 15 teams, led by junior Lauren Hartlage with a 1-under-par 215 for the tournament. Congrats go out to them on a 3rd place finish!

This Week: 09/21-23 Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee

Men’s Golf

At the Louisville Cardinal Challenge, the Cardinals finished 2nd behind tournament winner Duke, led by sophomore Matthias Schmid’s 3rd overall finish at 10-under-par. Congrats go out to our other golf team on a 2nd place finish!

This Week: IDLE

Men’s Tennis

Our Men’s Tennis team competed in 2 events last week, winning a couple games at the Greater Cincinnati Collegiate Invitational, led by freshman David Mizrahi and his 3-0 Singles mark during the event, and also picked up the Doubles Title at the Commodore Scramble, with seniors Brandon Lancaster and George Hedley besting fellow Cardinals Fabien Salle and Federico Gomez 6-2 in the championship game. Good job Cards!

#7 Men’s Soccer (4-1-0)

At Boston College: W, 1-0

This Week: 09/18 Vs Charlotte (7:30 PM, ACC Network Extra), Prediction: W 2-0

09/21 Vs Pittsburgh (7:30 PM, ACC Network Extra), Prediction: W 1-0

Women’s Soccer (7-1-0)

At Pittsburgh: W, 2-0

This Week: 09/20 Vs Notre Dame (7 PM), Prediction: W 3-0

09/23 Vs Syracuse (1 PM), Prediction: W 2-0

Cross Country

At the Commodore Classic, the Men’s team, led by freshman Emmanuel Cheboson’s 2nd place finish in the 8k race at a time of 24:41.9, finished 2nd behind Eastern Kentucky. Meanwhile, the Women’s team, led by an overall 1st place finish by junior Dorcas Wasike’s time of 17:09.4 in the 5k, finished in 9th place. Congrats to the Cards for a good race and a special congrats to Dorcas for her first victory in a multi-team race!
