This Week in Cardinal Athletics: October 2nd

Welcome back ladies and gents, to the best time of the week, where we look at all of our amazing sports programs. No more waiting around though, let’s get right into it!

Men’s Golf

Our men’s golf team managed to grab a win at the Old Town Club Invitational, beating out Wake Forest by one stroke, and being led by the tournament-winner Matthias Schmid and his 18-under-par 192. Congrats go out to them on the team’s first event win this year!

#6 Men’s Soccer (6-1-2)

At Georgetown: W, 2-1

At #12 NC State: T, 2-2

This Week: 10/06 At #20 Notre Dame (7 PM, ACC Network Extra), Prediction: W, 2-0

#25 Women’s Volleyball (11-4)

At Georgia Tech: W, 3-0

At Clemson: W, 3-2

This Week: 10/05 Vs Duke (5 PM), Prediction: W 3-1

10/07 Vs Wake Forest (1 PM), Prediction: W 3-1

Men’s Tennis

The Men’s Tennis team is currently participating in the All-American National through 10/07, and also will be competing in the Notre Dame Invitational from 10/05-07.

Cross Country

Both the Men’s and Women’s team earned individual titles at the Greater Louisville Classic. For the Men, freshman Emmanuel Cheboson earned the individual win with a time of 23:41.1 in the 8k, while the men’s team placed 4th in the field. For the Women, junior Dorcas Wasike remained unbeaten for the season, winning the 5k with a time of 16:27.8, while the women’s team placed 11th in the field.
