Louisville vs Marquette: Postgame Recap

Mack-Southern

The Louisville Cardinals were snubbed in Brooklyn tonight. Several missed calls, a 3 that was called a 2, and an offensive foul (deemed flagrant by the commentators) removed and changed to a no-call culminated in a Louisville loss to Marquette. The final score was 77-74 in overtime.

Louisville played 10 players and all of them scored. The Cardinals were led by Christen Cunningham’s 16 points. Jordan Nwora and Steven Enoch also chipped in double digits with 15 and 10, respectively.

This one stings. Louisville should have won this game in regulation. I’m at a loss for words on the game management from the officials and hate to attribute a loss to the whistles, but they certainly played a larger role than normal in tonight’s game. Anyways, Louisville will have to bounce back and take the positives from a competitive tournament, despite the 0-2 record.

Up next: Louisville plays at home against Michigan State on Tuesday at 7:30 in the ACC/Big10 challenge. The game will be televised on ESPN.
