New UofL Football Coach Scott Satterfield nearly has his staff complete. Today, UofL officially announced the hires of Cort Dennison, Dale Jones, Chad Scott, and Stephen Field.

Cort Dennison returns to UofL to be Co-Defensive Coordinator and OLB coach. Dennison is a familiar face to many UofL fans. He was ILB coach and a recruiting coordinator for UofL in 2017 and had been on staff in some capacity since 2014. If you look at the recruiting profile of the freshmen from the highly touted 2018 recruiting class for UofL, you will see Cort was the lead recruiter for many of them. His recruiting at Oregon was just as good if not better. He landed multiple 3 and 4 Star players and helped Oregon get a top 10 class per 247sports. He also proved to be an excellent on-field coach as one of his pupils, LB Dorian Etheridge, made ESPN’s Freshman All-American team. At Oregon, he coached two First Team All-Pac 12 performers at LB as well. Getting Dennison back is a coup for Satterfield.

Dale Jones joins UofL as the ILB coach. He had previously been at Appalachian State for many years serving in a variety of coaching roles. He was a defensive coordinator multiple times, including Co-DC this past season. He also served as Special Teams Coordinator, DL coach, and ILB coach as well. Jones’ vast coaching experience and abilities will be very valuable to the staff and to the players he will coach.

Chad Scott comes to UofL as the new RB coach. Scott comes to the Cards from UNC where he coached TEs under Larry Fedora. Before that he had good success as RB coach at UK under Mark Stoops. Under Scott’s tutelage Stanley Boom Williams thrived. UofL fans recognize that name quite well. He is originally from Plant City, FL and brings yet more recruiting ties to that area.

Stephen Field comes back to UofL as Director of Recruiting, a role similar to his previous role here. Before his one season stint at Oregon, Field was Director of High School Relations at UofL. He helped piece together the 30th ranked class in the nation here. In his one year at Oregon, he, along with Dennison, helped land a top 10 class and the number 2 player in America according to 247sports. He has also been an assistant coach at Florida A&M and at numerous high schools in Florida, especially south Florida. Despite being a critic of my work as a writer, Field chose to return to UofL. And UofL is all the better for it.
*Editors Note- I thought Shawn’s writing would be the reason we didn’t get Field back

Satterfield has created a great staff and still has two more spots to fill. Mark Ivey will likely be the DL coach, leaving only WR coach as the only position left to fill. Regardless, this staff is arguably one of the best in UofL history and should get UofL Football rolling in no time. Glad to have the good brother’s back together again.
