Durr, Fuehring Lead Louisville Past Georgia Tech, 61 – 44

The Louisville Cardinals bounced back after a crushing loss to defeat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a 61 – 44 decision.

With the win, Louisville moves to 15 – 1 on the season and 3 – 1 in conference play.

Asia Durr paced the Cardinals with 21 points, while Sam Fuehring added 13 and Arica Carter collected 10 points. Fuehring also recorded 14 rebounds (13 on the defensive glass), notching her second double-double on the season.

Louisville’s defense held Georgia Tech to a season low 26.2%. The defensive effort kept the ball out of the hands of the Yellow Jacket’s top scorers, Francesca Pan (13.3 ppg) and Elizabeth Dixon (11.1 ppg). Pan went 1 – of – 5 from the field, 1 – of – 2 from three-point range, to collect 5 points, while Dixon went 1 – of – 6 from the field for 3 points. Georgia Tech had to lean on Elizabeth Balogun. The freshman notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Despite Georgia Tech’s inability to score, the Yellow Jackets dominated the boards. Georgia Tech outrebounded Louisville, 46 – 23.

The Cardinals kicked off the match on a 10 – 0 and there was no looking back. The Jackets were able to cut the lead to single digits in the third quarter, but Louisville powered back to finish the match, 61 – 44.

Louisville remains home and plays host to Virginia on Thursday, January 17th at 7PM EST.
