UofL Football continues looking to add quality depth at all positions for the team. The defensive front seven has definitely been a focus for the coaching staff when looking at the offers out there. UofL is getting a visitor this weekend that would definitely help bolster this part of the defense.

Allen Smith, a 6’3 205 lbs OLB from Loganville, GA, is officially visiting UofL this weekend. Smith holds offers from Oregon, Nebraska, North Carolina, Iowa State, and Cincinnati, among others. Cort Dennison is his primary recruiter, according to 247sports.
With a unique combination of speed, quickness, and size, Smith would be a great coverage LB in this UofL defense. He can cover smaller, quicker slot WRs because of his lateral quickness and straight line speed. He can also blitz the QB effectively, using his speed to get in the backfield and hurry or hit the QB. Smith can diagnose plays and tackle as well, making him effective at stopping the running game of an opponent.
If UofL were to land Smith, (according to 247sports crystal ball predictions it’s likely to happen) he could become a great all-around OLB for the Cards. His coverage skills allow for more flexibility defensively. The speed he possesses makes him a nightmare for QBs and for RBs because he can cover so much ground quickly and cause havoc in the backfield. UofL’s defense could definitely use a player with his particular set of skills and UofL’s staff is working hard to land his commitment.
