The Louisville Cardinals (13-5,4-1) host the North Carolina State Wolfpack (15-3,3-2) at home Thursday night.
Torin Dorn leads the Wolfpack in both scoring (14.3) and rebounding (7.1). NC State most recently beat Notre Dame on Saturday by 4 points to improve to 3-2 in ACC play. They are coached by Kevin Keatts, who served as an assistant at Louisville from 2011-2014. This will be his second trip back to the Yum Center as a head coach, but his first since taking over NC State last season.
Louisville looks to put together its first 4-game winning streak of the season tonight with a victory. The Cards come off a 79-51 win at Georgia Tech on Saturday, which put them in a tie for first place in the ACC. A win tonight would keep them tied at the top of the standings. Louisville earned its first spot in the top 25 rankings this week, currently sitting 23rd in the AP Poll and 24th in the coaches’ poll.
This team has started to look more and more consistent on both ends of the floor in recent weeks. This is a game that Louisville would probably have been an underdog in 3 or so weeks ago, but both teams have essentially moved in opposite directions. NC State has some good wins this season, but they have not looked great in recent weeks. That includes a loss last Tuesday at Wake Forest, arguably the worst team in the ACC. Make no mistake, this is still a test for Louisville though. It’s an NC State team that is still ranked in both polls and has the team to compete with anyone in this conference. It should be another good one at the Yum on Thursday night.
