UofL signee Samuell Williamson had himself a great showing at the McDonald’s All-American practices in preparation for tonight’s McDonald’s All-American Game.
The 5 Star 6’7 180 lbs G/F is proving he belongs in the conversation as one of the elite players in the 2019 class. He has been mentioned as one of the standout players there by a variety of different recruiting and scouting gurus. His highlights show exactly why he is one of the players being lauded.
Williamson displays an excellent pull-up jumper, a nice stroke on his 3 point shot, excellent court vision and passing ability, very good ball handling skills, and an ability to catch and shoot. We also see he can offensive rebound when we see him get a nice putback dunk.
The fact Williamson is equally adept at being a catch and shoot guy or shooting off the dribble will make him nearly unstoppable. His touch on his jumper is very soft meaning he should get a lot of friendly rolls from those dastardly Yum rims.
There are two skills he didn’t utilize in these highlights that I have seen from him in person during the open gym he participated in during his visit during football season and in his high school highlights: his driving ability and his ability to move without the ball. Williamson can get to the rim when he wants and finish. He also can find open spots in a defense and exploit them for easy shots.
Here is some of the praise for Samuell Williamson from different scouts and recruiting analysts that have been to these practices:
I’m back at McDonald’s All-American practices today. Samuell Williamson is going to be good at Louisville. Perfect fit for Chris Mack, and once their strength staff gets with him he’s going to be a handful.

Good day this morning for Louisville commit F Samuell Williamson (@S_Williamson35). 6-foot-7 forward that shows comparisons to Jayson Tatum. Great size and length and has been connecting on all of his jumpers this morning #MCDAAG. Chris Mack getting a special one.
