There were five (Williamson, Igiehon, Johnson, Withers and Nickelberry) future Cardinals listed in the top 150 of 24/7 final ranking of the 2019 basketball class.
Samuell Williamson #15 (5 Star)
The 6’6 smooth scorer from Rockwall, TX was one of the biggest movers up the rankings. Williamson’s finished no.15 in the class of 2019, four spots higher than last week and 46 spots higher than he did at the beginning of his senior season.
Aidan Igiehon #58 (4 Star)
The powerful and agile big from Lawrence Woodmere Academy in New York by way of Dublin, Ireland finished his high school career ranked the number 58th overall player. Rightfully nicknamed the ‘Irish Hulk’ brings the power and inside pressence coach Mack needed to cement one of the top overall classes in the country and in school history.
David Johnson #64 (4 Star)
Louisville’s own, the 6’5 combo guard will provide the big bodied guard that coach Mack loves. David had the unique ability to shoot over smaller guards, get past bigger and slower defenders, finish at the rim and see the floor like a lead guard. Johnson was a star amongst stars in the city of Louisville, Johnson also lead his Trinity High School team to the state championship in Kentucky.
Jaelyn Withers #129 (4 Star)
Withers seems to be the least talked about recruit amongst the ‘Super 6’ Jaelyn finished off his high school career in Cleveland, Ohio but he started his career in Huntersville, NC. He is looked like to be a tweener in this class, but make ni mistake about it, kid can BALL!!! Jaelyn will push for playing time as a versatile big small forward or a stretch four if he doesn’t redshirt this season.
Josh Nickelberry #149 (3 Star)
The quarterback of the Super 6. Nickelberry was and will forever be known as the first Louisville commit of the Chris Mack Louisville era. Though he is listed as 3 star, Josh certainly doesn’t play like it and is considered a 5 star in the eyes and hearts of #CardNation. Nickelberry lit up the scoring books in the state of North Carolina, he finished his career in the top 3 of scoring over his high school days. Nickelberry will bring a lot of scoring to the Ville for years to come.
Quinn Slazinski #272 (3 Star)
Silky Smooth Slazinski, at 6’8 Slazinki could probably be one of the best shooters in this class. Consistent shooting has been an issue for the Cards for the last few years. With Quinn in a Cards uniform, consistency shouldn’t be an issue. Although he is mostly known for his shooting, don’t label him a shooter. Slazinki can put the ball on the floor and had great court awareness and vision when it comes to finding the open guy.
I for one can not wait for these young men to get on campus and start working with the strength and conditioning staff as well as the coaching staff. Coach Mack is recruiting at a high level and his first class might not be his best class when its all said and done.
