Card Nation the recruiting train keeps rolling; this time in the form of a commitment from 2020 3 Star DT Jared Dawson of Collierville, TN.

The 6’2 260 lbs Dawson picked the Cards over a pretty impressive looking offer list that is only going to become more impressive as he enters his senior season. Some of the schools that offered Jared are: Appalachian State, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Memphis, Missouri, Wake Forest, and Western Kentucky, just to name a few. RB Coach Norval McKenzie and DL Coach Mark Ivey were Jared’s main recruiters per 247sports.
After watching his highlights, it’s pretty easy to see why UofL coveted Dawson. He brings pass rushing ability, power, quickness, and the ability to live in an opponent’s backfield and be disruptive.
Dawson possesses a unique blend of size, agility, and power. Card fans, you will fall in love with his deadly spin and swim moves that he sets up perfectly. His combination of power and quickness will be fun to watch over the next 3-4 years (he has that type of talent Card fans).
I love the versatility and flexibility that Dawson will bring to the Louisville front. Coach Satterfield and Coach Brown no doubt love his ability to line up either inside at DT or outside as an edge rusher.
Jared has the uncanny ability to get small as he splits double teams that he sees regularly, which is difficult to do for a player his size. Splitting double teams along with having great eye discipline has allowed Dawson to live in his opponent’s backfields. His junior year stats bear this out as he compiled 26 TFLs, including 9 sacks, per 247sports. His play last season earned him 1st Team All-Region honors for his region in the TN 6A division per his high school.
The defensive line is sure to get some much needed help, improvement, and depth with Dawson’s commitment to the Cards. He is yet another versatile DL with skills that will work both on the interior or on the edge.
Louisville’s 2020 class now stands at 7 commitments and ranks in the top 50 nationally. Congratulations to Coach Satterfield and the coaching staff for their tireless efforts on the recruiting trail.
