Louisville Basketball has been targeting a plethora of guards in the 2020 and the 2021 class. One of those guards is 2020 5 Star Nimari Burnett. Today, Burnett announced his top 5 schools and UofL made the cut.

First reported by Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, the five-star guard is one of several top-50 prospects visiting Louisville over the next few months. In addition to the Cards, Alabama, Michigan, Texas Tech, and Oregon made the cut for the 6’3 185 lbs G from Chicago, IL. Burnett is ranked the number 23 overall player in the 2020 class and the number 5 combo guard in the class per 247sports composite rankings.

Burnett is a true CG in that he can score from all three levels, his ball handling is excellent, and he can find open men with beautiful passes. Either Burnett will score on the defense or will find the open man for an easy bucket.

Last season, for his high school team Prolific Prep in Napa, CA, Burnett demonstrated a very well-rounded game which his stats bear out. He averaged 21.6 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 4.7 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game, according to prepcircuit.com. He shot 50% from the field, 52% from three, and 75% from the free throw line.

Burnett scheduled an official visit to UofL today as well. He will visit campus on September 13 per 247sports Evan Daniels. Getting Burnett on campus for a visit is another coup for Coach Chris Mack and staff. It will be interesting to see what kind of impression the city and the campus make on the Chicagoan.

If Coach Mack can land this young man, UofL will be getting a player that could easily be a one-and-done. This a recruitment that will definitely be one to watch for Cards fans.
