Big Official Visitor In Town For Louisville Football

The early signing period is rapidly approaching for college football. Louisville Football is working on finishing out the class strongly. One player they’ve had their eyes on ever since they set foot on campus is a legacy recruit: St. Thomas Aquinas 4 Star OT Marcus Dumervil. They were able to get Dumervil on campus for an official visit this weekend.

Dumervil is the nephew of Cardinal Forever Elvis Dumervil. His cousin, Dejmi Dumervil-Jean is currently a medical redshirt for the Cards. The 6’5 305 lbs Dumervil is ranked the 158th best player in the 2020 class and the number 11 OT according to 247sports composite rankings. He has offers from every major blue blood program including Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, and LSU.

Dumervil is a prototypical OT; able to pass block or run block. He has excellent size, quick feet, and strong hands. He is able to get out of his stance quickly and move his feet to stay in front of speed rushers. Dumervil loves finishing blocks when pass or run blocking by driving the defender backwards or into the ground. He has excellent initial punch with his hands and holds his blocks very well once engaged. He lives up to that 4 Star ranking and should be a 5 Star.

Louisville being able to get an official visit just before the early signing period is a massive success. Dumervil is the real deal. However, it appears that LSU is where he will end up. The fact he came to campus so late shows me the new staff did make an impression with their pitch and on-field product. However, the allure of playing for a playoff team, SEC powerhouse, and an explosive offense look to be too much to overcome for Louisville. I expect he still ends up at LSU, but stranger things have happened. Maybe, just maybe, the Louisville staff can pull off a major recruiting upset.
