Postgame Recap: Cards Beat Miami (FL)

The Louisville Cardinals got back to their winning ways with a 74-58 victory over Miami (FL) on Tuesday night at the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville improved to 12-3 on the season and 3-1 in ACC play. Miami now sits at 9-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Jordan Nwora finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Steven Enoch added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Dwayne Sutton finished with 9 points and 13 boards. As a team, Louisville shot 45 percent from the field and 40 percent from three.

For Miami, Chris Lykes and Kameron McGusty each finished with 18 points. Dejan Vasiljevic added 12 points with 5 rebounds.  Miami only shot 28 percent from the field and went 8-31 on three pointers.  Louisville out-rebounded Miami 48-37.

After leading 10-8 early on in the first half, Louisville went on an 18-2 run and extended the lead to 18 points. The Cards led 43-32 at halftime. Out of the break, Louisville failed to keep up its intensity and let Miami hang around. The Canes got the lead down to 5 late in the half after trailing by about 10 throughout most of the second period. Louisville managed to pull away in the final 5 minutes and get its first win in 20 days.

Louisville was the better team throughout the night and ended up winning by a comfortable margin. It was never really in doubt despite the run by Miami in the second half, but its a game that the Cards led by 18 early on. It should have never gotten that close. There’s not much that can be taken from this game. Louisville ultimately took care of business and got the win at home like they were expected to.

Up Next: Louisville heads up to South Bend for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Notre Dame at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
