Lamar Jackson Will Be Madden 21 Cover Athlete

Lamar Jackson had a spectacular sophomore season for the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. He completed 66.1 percent of his passes for 3127 yards and 36 touchdowns while only throwing 6 interceptions. Really good passing numbers. However, he also rushed for 1206 yards and 7 touchdowns. Jackson put together one of the most incredible seasons a dual-threat QB ever has in the NFL.

This excellent season led to Lamar being named the 2019 NFL MVP. What made this honor even more remarkable is that Lamar got all 50 first-place votes. That made him only the second unanimous MVP in league history after Tom Brady in 2010.

The accolades haven’t stopped for the young gun former Louisville QB, however. While doing a Q&A with the Baltimore Ravens via social media, Lamar rather casually announced he will be the cover athlete for Madden 21.

He follows in the footsteps of Patrick Mahomes; who won the 2018 MVP, became the cover athlete for Madden 2020, and went on to win this year’s Super Bowl. It would be nice to see Lamar follow that same trajectory. When asked about the so-called “Madden Curse,” Lamar wasn’t fazed by it. In fact, he pointed out the fact Patrick Mahomes was on the cover previously and didn’t seem to suffer from the supposed curse.

Congrats to one of Card Nation’s favorite players ever for the honor of being on Madden 21. I’m sure this particular iteration of Madden will sell big time in Louisville just because our guy Lamar is on it.
