Louisville Makes Top 8 For QB Prospect Jaylen Henderson

Louisville Football is looking for a QB in the 2021 class and the consensus is that their number 1 choice is Shedeur Sanders. However, they are in on a few other prospects at the position and one is Jaylen Henderson.

The 6’3 205 lbs dual-threat QB is a 3 Star prospect out of West Hills, CA. Henderson was offered by Louisville back on May 21st and is ranked the 903rd best prospect nationally and 29th best at his position according to 247sports. Today, Henderson announced his top 8 programs and the Cards made the cut. The other 8 programs are Vanderbilt, Fresno State, Boise State, San Diego State, Utah State, New Mexico, and Yale.

Playing for Chaminade High School, Henderson put up great numbers last season. He completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 2664 yards, 20 passing TDs, and only 6 interceptions. As a runner, Henderson had 767 yards rushing and 5 rushing TDs, averaging 6.9 yards per carry.

Watching Henderson’s highlights, he definitely fits the Louisville system. He’s a lefty that has nice touch and accuracy on deep balls either in the middle of the field, down the seam, or down the sideline. His arm strength is very good, showing zip on passes in tight windows on short and intermediate throws. Also, that arm strength shows when he is able to put zip on throws he can’t step into because of pocket pressure or when he’s on the move. Henderson has great pocket presence and footwork. When under pressure, he can keep plays alive and deliver throws. When he has to tuck and run, Henderson’s speed makes him a threat as a runner to gain chunks of yards.

Jaylen Henderson is definitely a player Card fans should keep their eyes on. His talent fits Louisville’s scheme and he is definitely a target Louisville likes.
