Coach Walz on Cochran: “Her strength, ability to finish around the basket with contact. Even though she’s 6’2, she’s by far the best back to the basket player that we’ve had as a freshman in my 14 years.”
Breakdown: Olivia Cochran has a pedigree like no other. She is the daughter of a former WNBA player (Tara Williams) and former 1999 fourth round NFL draft pick Antonio Cochran. Cochran has the ability to be as consistent of a double double threat as we’ve seen in a UofL uniform (Men or Women). Cochran is a strong athletic post player that competes on both ends of the floor.
My take: Look for Cochran to get valuable minutes early and often. Olivia will provide a much needed inside presence and frontcourt depth for a very talented guard oriented Louisville women’s basketball team. Cochran will make a strong push for an All-ACC Freshman Team spot.
