As a true freshman at Georgia Tech, Dixon averaged 11ppg and 6.4rpg while earning a spot on the All-ACC Freshman team. Last year during her first season at Louisville, Dixon averaged 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Coach Walz: “Liz Dixon has had some great improvement over the summer. Excited where she is.”

Breakdown: Elizabeth Dixon is very skilled post player. Dixon is also a good passer out of the post, so it can be difficult to double her. In the post, Dixon can finish strong with either hand and finish in traffic. Liz is also a very nice shot blocker and is very active on both the offensive and defensive backboards. Perhaps one of the most underrated parts of Dixon’s game is how great of an outlet passer she is. Although she didn’t showcase it much last year, Dixon’s ability to quickly and accurately throw an outlet pass is key to starting the fast break. While that is the most underrated part of her game, the most impressive part of Liz’s game is how well the 6’5 post player can run the floor. Her ability to run the floor should lead to her share of easy baskets in transition on the secondary break.

My Take: Elizabeth Dixon will be the starting center when the season tips off vs MTSU. Players typically make their biggest improvement between their freshman and sophomore year. Despite being a college junior, Dixon is ‘technically’ a sophmore at Louisville. Dixon will definitely see an increase in playing time this year and will definitely have the opportunity to double last season’s output.
