Bracketology Update 1/26

The Louisville men’s basketball team played just once since our update last week. The Cards are now 10-3 overall, 5-2 in the ACC, and ranked in both major national polls. Since then, there has been plenty of movement in the NCAA NET rankings, which means Louisville’s resume has changed significantly.

Resume Update:

Overall Record: 10-3
ACC Record: 5-2

Quadrant 1 Wins: @ Pittsburgh
Bad Losses: at Miami (Quad. 3)
Other Notable Wins: Virginia Tech, Duke, Seton Hall

AP Poll: 25
Coaches Poll: 23
KenPom: 37
Sagarin: 27
Torvik: 58

Remaining Quad 1 Opportunities: @ Clemson, @ Syracuse, @ Va. Tech, @ UNC, UVA (2)

As of right now, Louisville is 1-2 in quadrant one games. The schedule is back loaded with six remaining  quadrant one opportunities. Duke has fallen to 5-5 and is 89th in the NET. Louisville’s remaining road game at Duke is probably the only other game on the schedule that could be quad. 1 if they can get back into the top 75. Keep in mind that the quadrant system is based off of where a team sits on Selection Sunday. It does not particularly matter where they are ranked at the time of the win or loss. You probably will not see the Cards move up in any bracket projections until they start playing some of these tougher games. Aside from maybe Virginia, every other team left on the schedule has looked very beatable. We will have a much better idea about Louisville’s resume two weeks from now.
