Louisville Center Malik Williams Is Returning For One More Season

Louisville just got some big news! Center Malik Williams just announced on Twitter he is returning for one more season. The senior is taking advantage of the rule put in place because of Covid that will allow seniors to return for another season.

Williams is arguably the heart and soul of the team. Injuries to his foot hampered him the last two seasons, and especially the season that recently concluded. When Malik is healthy and on the floor, he’s one of team’s best defenders and post defenders. Offensively, he’s developed some good low post moves and has shown the ability to hit some shots from beyond the arc.

Malik’s greatest quality, however, is his leadership on and off the court. Malik led the team during the past summer in marches against police brutality and spoke eloquently about his beliefs and feelings before the marches began. On the court, he is a director on defense and makes sure everyone is where they need to be. This leadership quality led to Malik being named a team captain the past two seasons. His impact on his team, even when not playing, was noticeable.

There is no question that Malik’s return is massive for next year’s squad. What he brings to the team in terms of leadership and talent is sorely needed. If Louisville wants to be a dangerous team that can make a run in March 2022, Malik Williams will be a key part, if not the key.

Welcome back Malik….Lets run it back!
