The 6’6 forward earned the honor after a stellar senior season at Oak Ridge High School. James averaged a double-double with 19.6 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. He also chipped in 2.6 assists, 1 steal, and 1.3 blocks per game as well. James shot 63-percent from the field and 44-percent from the arc, according to MaxPreps.
247sports has James listed as a 4 Star prospect. He had offers from Alabama, Arkansas, NC State, Oklahoma State, and Virginia Tech, among others. Mike Pegues was Louisville’s main recruiter for James.
Mike James is a highly athletic forward that should get some immediate playing time due to his defensive prowess and athleticism. With his shooting percentage having improved immensely from inside the arc from his junior to senior year while he also had a modest increase in his 3-point percentage. He will hopefully be a valuable contributor off the bench for the Cards in 2021-2022.
