Louisville (18-9) dropped an 11-7 loss to Kentucky (19-7) on Tuesday night, the first home loss by the Cardinals against their in-state rival since 2014.

The Wildcats were led by a sensational performance from shortstop Ryan Ritter, who had six RBIs on a 3-for-4 evening at the plate. All six runs driven in came in the first three innings for Ritter; he hit a home run in the second inning that got UK on the board with a 3-0 lead, then cleared the bases on a three-RBI double that broke a 3-3 tie. T.J. Collett added two more runs on an RBI double of his own, giving Kentucky an 8-3 lead in the top of the third inning.

UK’s remaining three runs came in the fifth (two runs) and eighth innings (one). The 11 runs allowed by Louisville marked the second straight midweek game this occurred, and the fourth midweek loss in the last five for the Cardinals.
