Massive TN OL Izaiah Reed Is The Latest Commit For UofL Football’s 2022 Class

One thing the current Louisville Football staff is known for is having a big spurts of commitments in a short period. It appears we are in the middle of one of the spurts. After getting commitments from two 2022 receivers, Louisville secured the commitment of massive 2022 OL Izaiah Reed.

A 6’6 290 lbs OT out of Jackson, TN, Reed chose UofL over offers from Ole Miss, Boston College, Colorado, and Memphis. He’s a 3 Star prospect ranked 730th overall nationally and 64th at his position per 247sports. New offensive line coach Jack Bicknell led the recruiting effort for UofL in Reed’s recruitment.

Izaiah Reed Highlights

Izaiah Reed is every bit of 6’6 and 290 lbs. He uses that size very well when he absolutely obliterates defenders. His strength and ability to get leverage allow him to drive defenders all around the field. He also is able to throw guys straight to the ground.

Reed is so quick out of his stance at the snap which allows him to get the jump on defenders. He’s very quick footed and actually has good speed for his size. Even though he played tackle, his high school used his athleticism by having him pull and become a lead blocker. His footwork is good, but I think can be even better.

Of course, as with many other OL recruits this staff has gotten, Reed has a high motor. He will block until the whistle blows. He also plays with a nasty demeanor, looking to destroy any defender he’s assigned to block.

Overall, he’s a talented young lineman that has size, strength, and quickness that you just can’t teach. I believe he could become an anchor on the line for UofL for years to come.
