Louisville Football has continued to parlay a huge recruiting weekend into commitments. The latest commitment is 2023 GA CB Martel Hight. Hight is from Rome High School in Rome, GA. He joins a 2023 recruiting class stacked with talent.

Hight is ranked as a 3 Star WR by Rivals, is unranked and listed as a CB on 247sports, and is listed as a 4 Star corner per on3 sports. He stands 5’11 and weighs 161 lbs. Before committing to UofL, Hight considered offers from Wake Forest, Florida, Vanderbilt, Indiana, and uk. Bryan Brown was his primary recruiter per 247sports.
Martel Hight Highlights
Hight is a very intriguing talent at corner. His quickness and ability to change directions mean it will be hard for wide receivers to beat him even on routes run excellently. The physicality he brings to the position is tremendous. Hight will be doing the bullying instead of getting bullied at the line of scrimmage. When a pass is in the air, he’s in playmaker mode. He can make all kinds of difficult catches on passes thrown low or high due to his leaping ability and excellent hands. I do like that as a corner, he doesn’t just read the receiver at all times. He will take a quick peak in the backfield at the QB as well. This allows Hight to be excellent at quickly diagnosing if a play is a run or pass. It also allows him to jump short routes to cause pass breakups, levy big hits, or pick off a pass. Against the run, Hight is a big hitter and not afraid to take on a running back in a one-on-one, open field situation. As a tackler, Hight is excellent at getting a nice wrap up form tackle. Hight’s speed and acceleration are superb as well. He won’t get beat often deep and he should be able to make up ground quickly to get to ball carriers and receivers.
Martel Hight is a player that will eventually be ranked quite highly by all the known recruiting services. He’s a highly skilled athlete that brings all kinds of potential to the CB position. If he lives up to the potential evident on tape, he can become an all-conference type of performer. Coach Scott Satterfield is recruiting like a man that wants to win big in the Ville and he just got another great talent to help him do just that.
