Head Coach Kenny Payne has now finished the work of assembling his assistant coaching staff. Josh Jamieson, the long time director of basketball operations at Oregon, has joined Coach Payne’s staff as his third assistant bench coach. He joins Coach Nolan Smith and Coach Danny Manning.

Jamieson is a name that was mentioned as one of three possibilities on our CSZ podcast a few weeks ago. He has an extensive resume that included stops at the University of Portland as an assistant coach and as an assistant coach at South Medford High School. Jamieson has had two stints at Oregon. From 2001-2003, he was a grad manager. He joined Oregon program again in 2007 and had been there until now. He served as director of basketball operations for most of his tenure, but was promoted to the executive director of the program last season. Jamieson was in his most recent role at Oregon when Coach Payne was there as an assistant coach.
This will not be Jamieson’s first assistant coach role at a Division 1 program having served as an assistant at the University of Portland. While not in a high major conference, that university is in the West Coast Conference, home of perennial national power Gonzaga. For three seasons, he helped develop game plans against Coach Mark Few.
Coach Jamieson now looks to help Coach Payne rebuild UofL in the national power it once was. He has a wealth of experience with different positions at all different levels. He must bring that to bear here at UofL.
