Louisville starting centerfielder Levi Usher was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year by the conference. Usher becomes the second Cardinal to win the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award since it became an award. Cardinal Forever Devin Hairston won it in 2017 when the award was inaugurated.

Usher has been maybe the most stellar defensive outfielder in all of baseball for 2022. His speed and athleticism allowed him to cover tons of ground in centerfield and make highlight reel catches. He robbed numerous homers and extra base hits from opponents and helped Louisville win the ACC Atlantic Division. In 113 defensive chances, Usher committed only 2 errors. 2 errors the entire season while making spectacular and game-winning defensive plays is ridiculous.

Usher will be one of the UofL players leading the Cards into the ACC Baseball Tournament where they hope to win it all and improve their standing heading into the NCAA Tournament. The Cards will need to have his defensive brilliance on full display if they hope to make it to the championship game.
