GALLERY + RECAP: Louisville v. Michigan (NCAA Regional)

#12 Louisville (39-19-1) dropped a 7-3 loss to Michigan (34-26) in the 1-0 game of the Louisville regional on Saturday afternoon.

Louisville will now have to win three games in two days to advance to the Super Regionals, starting with an elimination game against Oregon at noon on Sunday. If Louisville defeats Oregon, they will then have to beat Michigan twice (one on Sunday, one on Monday) to stave off elimination.

The Cardinals took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning, but Michigan then proceeded to take over with a seven run stretch from the third to fifth innings. Back-to-back home runs from Clark Elliott and Joe Stewart gave the Wolverines a 3-1 lead in the third inning, Michigan added two more runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game out of reach for Louisville.

Despite tallying ten hits on the afternoon, Louisville struggled to bring runners home, leaving 12 on base on the afternoon.
