Postgame Recap: Cards Run Bulls Out Of Town

Pregame Notes: Louisville is coming off a disappointing loss to FSU 35-31 last Friday night. With the loss, UofL is now 0-2 in conference play. The Cards are 1-1 vs the state of Florida this season, and will hope to improve to 2-1, while simultaneously improving their record to 2-2 on the season. Louisville leads the all-time series 6-5, and are 4-1 at home. Louisville is currently on a 3-game winning streak in the series.

1st Quarter:

The Cards weren’t able to score on their first possession of the game, but also stopped USF on their first possession. Louisville was able to score on their next two drives, including a Malik 40-yard run and a 26-yard pass to Jaelin Carter to put the Cards up 14-0.

2nd Quarter:

The defense forced a fumble to put a halt to a USF drive, while the offense continued to put points on the board. Touchdowns of 35 and 8 yards by Malik Cunningham gave the Cards a 28-0 lead that they took into the half. The turnover bug hit both teams to end the half, as UofL managed 2 interceptions and USF forced a fumble to end the half.

3rd Quarter:

The defense for Louisville continued to frustrate the USF offense. The Cards only allowed 59 yards in the quarter. Louisville’s 29-yard field goal kick was the only scoring by either team in the quarter.

4th Quarter:

USF was finally able to points on the scoreboard with a 37-yard field goal. The Cards do shut out the Bulls for the rest of the game, even with the backups in on both sides of the ball for the Cards. Louisville added another touchdown and field goal to come away with the 41-3 victory over USF.
