Good evening Card Nation from the beautiful and warm island of Nassau, Bahamas. The Cards are coming off an overtime loss to Gonzaga 67-79. Louisville is now 3-1 and will play in the “not winner’s” bracket for the next two games in the tournament. Louisville takes on Texas, who is currently ranked #3 in the country and eager to put a halt to their current 2-game losing streak. Louisville trails the all-time series 0-2.
Hailey Van Lith
Josie Williams in her 1st career start for the Cards, gave Louisville the 2-0 lead on a mid-range jumper. Louisville executed better offensively, but Texas took a lot of charges early in the quarter. Post Game Notes:
The Cards improves to 4-1 and rebounds after the Gonzaga loss last night. Louisville will now face SDSU tomorrow. UofL only got 7 points from their bench, but they got a ton of effort and 9 big rebounds from the bench. Chrislyn Carr led the Cards with 19 points. Both Morgan Jones and HVL followed closely behind with 18 points each to help the Cards to victory. Hailey led the team with 6 rebounds. Coach Walz switched to a zone defense in the second half that really slowed down the Texas offense. The mixture of full-court and zone defense were the right ingredients for the win tonight.
Cards will take on South Dakota State at 5pm in the Battle 4 Atlantis.
