In the midst of losing DeAndre Moore to the University of Texas just before signing day, Jeff Brohm went out and landed what could be the perfect alternative in Kevin Coleman Jr. Playing for Coach Prime at Jackson State, Coleman earned SWAC Freshman of the Year honors with 33 receptions for 510 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, along with 16 kick returns for 373 yards as a return man. This includes his Celebration Bowl, in which he recorded 7 catches for 137 yards and a score.

Prior to his time at JSU, Coleman was a 4 star prospect ranked by 247 as the 54th best prospect overall and the 6th best receiver in the 2022 class. During his prep evaluation, Allen Trieu of 247 compared Coleman to Diontae Johnson of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Coleman adds to a talented group receivers and return threats.
