Cards Inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge Opponent Set

The University Of Louisville Women’s Basketball team has been selected to square off against Ole Miss in the inaugural ACC/SEC challenge on Wednesday November 29th at 9:15pm. UofL is the 5th and final game on the 1st day of 2 day challenge.

Louisville will be facing a familiar opponent with a few new and not so new faces. The Cards defeated 72-62 to advance to the Elite Eight for the 5th consecutive year.

Both teams will come in looking dramatically different from how they looked in the Sweet Sixteen battle. The Rebels return SEC-ALL Defensive Team member in Madison Scott, along with starters Tyia Singleton and Marquesha Davis.
Coach McPhee-McCuin hit the transfer portal hard early and often and was able to secure a few huge commitments, including former UNC guard Kennedy Todd-Williams. However, the Rebels did lose their top two scorers in Angel Baker and Madison Scott.

Louisville their fair share of departures and additions via the transfer portal in this off season as well. After suffering a disappointing loss to the eventual National Runner-Up in Iowa, the Cards had 8 departures (plus 2 left before the start of the NCAA tournament), most notably junior guard Hailey Van Lith. Coach Walz and staff hit the transfer portal hard and acquired a lot of great talent to surround their promising front court players (Nyla Harris, Olivia Cochran and Alexia Mobley). Louisville added 7 players, most notable are guards: Sydney Taylor (Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team), Kiki Jefferson (2023 Sun Belt POY) and Jayda Curry (15.5ppg).
