Louisville men’s basketball will be participating in the Empire Classic this season. The 2023 iteration includes UConn, Texas, and Indiana, in addition to UofL. What wasn’t known was who the Cards would face in the opening round. That has been revealed today.

UofL will match up with the Texas Longhorns on November 19th. The Cards and Longhorns have faced off 5 times previously, with UofL holding the 4-1 advantage. UofL won the last matchup in the 1997 NCAA Tournament. They seek to run their all time series record to 5-1 against Texas.

Matchups for November 20th are to be determined. All games will take place at the historic Madison Square Garden in the heart of Manhattan and will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
