TWICA 2023 – September 25th – October 1st

Women’s Soccer (2-6-4):

The Cardinals traveled to #10 Notre Dame last night and their offense wasn’t there. They fell to the Irish 3-0. The Irish scored early with a goal two minutes into the game and they never looked back. The Cardinals only had two shots on goal and only five total shots attempted the whole night.

Up Next: The Cardinals will return to campus for a two-game home stand starting on Thursday, October 5th at the Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals will welcome Florida State to Louisville for Thursday’s night match that will kick off at 7 p.m. ET and the match will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.

#5 Volleyball (12-1):

The Cardinals volleyball team continued their dominance with a road sweep of the Irish on Wednesday. The Cardinals were lead by PK’s (Phekran Kong) career-high of 12 kills. The Cardinals defense held them to under 17 points in each of the three sets. Senior Aiko Jones also contributed with 8 kills.

Up Next: The Cards will continue their road trip to NC State at 4 pm on Sunday and at North Carolina Friday at 6 pm.

#5 Field Hockey (9-1):

The Cardinals field hockey team continued their dominance over their unranked opponents. They were able to take care of Miami of Ohio 2-0 before hosting #6 Virginia on Friday. Tyler Everslage and Aimee Plumb scored the Cardinals only two goals. The Cardinals then hosted #6 Virginia on Friday. The Cardinals defense was stellar which allowed the Cardinals to get the 2-0 victory for the first ACC victory of the season. They only allowed two shots on goal the whole match. Minna Tremonti and Izzy Bianco scored both of the Cardinals’ goals.

Up Next: The Cardinals will host Wake Forrest on Friday at 6 pm.

Women’s Golf:

The Cardinals start the Windy City Collegiate Class put on by Northwestern on Monday.

Up Next: The Cardinals are off till October 15th.

Men’s Golf:

The Cardinals will travel to Notre Dame to compete in The Irish Classic on Sunday.

Up Next: The Cardinals will then travel to Chapel Hill for the Williams Cup next Monday.

#8 Men’s Soccer (6-2-1):

This was the first time the Cardinals offense just couldn’t get going. The Cavaliers won 3-0 behind two goals in first half and one in the 71st minute. Virginia outshot Louisville 16-7 in the match and held a 5-2 advantage in the corners.

Up Next: The Cards will host Kansas City on Monday and then travel to Clemson for a 7 pm game time.

Swimming & Diving:

The University of Louisville men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams won every event to sweep Xavier in the opening meet of the 2023 season on Friday evening at the Ralph Wright Natatorium. The Cardinal men won 193-66  and the women prevailed with 189-69.

Up Next: The Cards will host Auburn on Friday at 5:30 pm.
