-Louisville’s slow start cannot be ignored. The Cards turned the ball over 12 times in the first 12 minutes before pulling away to take a 44-16 lead into halftime. The offense struggled immensely in the first half. Against a better opponent it could have been ugly to start out the game on Wednesday.
-Kenny Payne experimented with many different lineups throughout the game. Tre White was a surprise omission from the starting lineup, but it became clear that Coach Payne was using the first exhibition game as an opportunity to mix and match the lineups, some were much more effective than others. It is still unclear who the starting five will be when the regular season begins in a couple weeks.
-It is hard to form any opinions based on a game like this against such an inferior opponent. Louisville did win by 41, though. That should be expected, but after last season you can consider it a positive. Plenty of things need to be cleaned up, but Louisville was never in real danger on Wednesday night.
