TWICA 2023 – October 16th – October 23rd

Women’s Golf:

The women’s golf team competed in the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Tennessee. Carmen Griffiths gave the Cardinals a top ten finish. Griffiths shot a 2-under-par 69 in the final round and finished the tournament at 1-under par 212.

Up Next: The Ally hosted by Mississippi State on Monday and Tuesday

Men’s Soccer (9-4-2):

The mens’s soccer team had a roller coaster week with the high being that they defeated Oakland University 4-0 on Tuesday night before falling to #11 North Carolina 2-0. Damien Barker John led the Cardinals scoring attack against the Bears with two goals bringing his total to 8 on the season. The Cardinals then traveled to #11 North Carolina and just couldn’t get the offense started. UNC outshot the Cardinals 15-7 with corner kicks even at four apiece.

Up Next: The Cardinals finish the regular season and conference play hosting Wake Forest on Friday at 7 pm.

Women’s Soccer (395):

The women’s soccer team had a rough week losing both of their matches to Clemson and Wake Forest. #8 Clemson defeated the Cardinals 3-0. The Cardinals held #8 Clemson from scoring until the 70th minute and that just opened up the floodgates for Clemson. The Tigers scored three goals in less than 12 minutes. Then the Cardinals traveled to Wake Forrest. The Cardinals were forced to play with 10 players after a red card in the 28th minute and Wake’s lone goal of the afternoon came on the free kick directly from the red card decision.

Up Next: The Cardinals finish the regular season and conference regular season on Thursday at home versus Duke at 6 pm.

#5 Volleyball (18-2):

Outside hitter Anna DeBeer hit .359 with 17 kills, five aces, and 11 digs to lead the No. 5-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team to a 21-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-5, 15-7 win over Wake Forest on Friday night in Winston-Salem. The Cardinals hit .270 as a team with 52 kills, seven aces, and eight blocks.

Up Next: UofL returns to the L&N Arena on Friday to take on Florida State on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. Then they face Miami on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.

#8 Field Hockey (12-5):

The eighth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team is currently on four game losing streak and this week they fell to #13 Syracuse 4-1 and App State 2-1. The Cardinals offense struggled against the Orange only getting five shots on goal. The Orange connected on 4/10 shots on goal. The Cardinals then hosted Senior Day against App State and the Cardinals dominated with 13 shots on goal, but only connected with one goal. They fell to the Mountaineers in a shootout.

Up Next: The Cardinals travel to Boston College on Friday for the final match of regular season.
