On Friday evening, Louisville Head Coach Jeff Brohm and Offensive Coordinator Brian Brohm got a surprise right before the Battle For the Governor’s Cup. Mason Mims 6’3 200lbs 3 Star QB from Oxford AL. Mason is coming off a HUGE junior year with 2454 yards passing, 28 TDs, and 70% completion percentage.  He currently has offers from Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and others. Mason does have connections with The Ville. His head coach at Oxford High School Sam Adams was GA with Louisville then moved on to offensive coordinator for Trinity High School.

Mason has an extremely quick release, which matches his ability to quickly read the defense and make quick decisions. He is very accurate throwing the deep pass and has the arm strength to get the ball down the field in a hurry. On the short passes, Mason can throw and make completions into tight windows.

His pocket awareness is excellent for a junior. He not only feels the pressure, but knows how to avoid the pressure and keep his eyes down field. Mason routinely shows how tough he is by standing in the pocket and making tough throws with the defense barreling towards him. When Mason does have to escape the pocket, he has enough speed to make defenses pay for 5-7 yards routinely.

Mason Mims is an intriguing prospect who may garner more attention as 2025 draws closer. Mims is a prototypical Brohm-type of QB: accurate, tough, and able to make quick reads and decisions. He will be an excellent addition to the QB room and has a great chance to develop into a future starter.
