Louisville DL Ashton Gillotte Named Second Team All-American

Ashton Gillotte continues to pile up accolades for his outstanding season for Louisville Football. After being named to the first team All-ACC, The Athletic has named his a second team All-American.

The Florida native has been outstanding for the Cardinals this season, leading on of the nation’s best defenses. Gillotte recorded 11 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss in his junior season. That sack amount ranks 8th nationally. Even when he couldn’t get the sack or tackle, Gillotte was drawing double teams and helping to collapse the pocket to allow his teammates to make plays.

It’s another earned honor for Mr. Gillotte as he made sure there was no drop off rushing the passer after Yaya Diaby and Yasir Abdullah departed the program for the NFL. Congrats to Ashton Gillotte. Below, you can read more about Gillotte’s latest accolade.

UofL FB: Ashton Gillotte Named Second Team All-American

Junior ranks eighth nationally in sacks with 11.0 this season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville defensive lineman Ashton Gillotte was named a second team All-American by The Athletic on Wednesday morning.

A first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree, Gillotte enters the postseason ranked eighth nationally in sacks with 11.0, which is tied for ninth on the school’s single-season list.  The Boca Raton native started all 13 games, recording a career best 45 tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss on a defense that ranked 16th nationally.

A junior, Gillotte recorded a career best 3.0 sacks in a win over Boston College and a pair against Duke in a 23-0 shutout victory over the Blue Devils.

Gillotte has been credited with 22.0 career sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss in 37 career games for the Cardinals.

Louisville continues its season on Dec. 27 versus USC in the 2023 Holiday Bowl in San Diego, Calif.
