On Sunday Morning the Louisville Cardinals & Jeff Brohm continued to a hot streak in the portal with the addition of South Alabama Receiver Caullin Lacy. He is 5’10 and 190lbs. Caullin comes from South Alabama where he just had an amazing 2023 Season with 91 catches 1,316 Yards & 7 Touchdowns. He was originally a 3 Star WR in 2020 class. Caullin has 1 year of eligibility left.
Lacy is one of a couple players that fit coach Brohm’s offense perfectly left in the portal. During his time at South Alabama, Lacy ran the ball, return kicks and punts and of course was the team leading receiver. Lacy is a versatile offensive weapon and someone who will give defensive coordinators plenty of sleepless nights.
Lacy is a very talented wide receiver, he is also a good route runner, that uses his explosiveness to create separation from defenders. Lacy is great at catching the ball with his hands and not his body. During his time at South Alabama, he was used very similar to how coach Brohm will use him at Louisville. Lacy is extremely fast and shifty in the open field. On crossing routes (which coach Brohm loves), Lacy can take any pass the distance.
Lacy is the type of receiver who is excellent in space. In open spaces, Lacy uses his incredible vision and shiftiness to elude tacklers and outrun the pursuit of defenders. Lacy is an explosive and shifty returner. As a punt returner, Lacy’s longest return was 57 yards, he also scored 1 punt return touchdown. Over four years, Lacy returned 53 punts for 455 yards and 1 touchdown. He also returned 18 kickoffs for 389 yards.

Operating mainly out of the slot, Lacy is one of the top wide receivers in the portal. He is a top-30 overall transfer according to On3. in 2023, he caught 91 passes for 1316 yards and seven touchdowns joining Ja’Corey Brooks, Lacy projects to be one of the most explosive receivers in the ACC next season. One aspect of his game that Brohm will most certainly utilize is his downfield ability, as Lacy averaged 14.5 yards per reception this season
